The 14th international conference on Interaction Design & Children will be held on June 21-24, 2015 in Boston, Massachusetts. The IDC conference’s mission is to bring together researchers, designers and educators to explore new forms of technology, design and engaged learning among children. The conference incorporates papers, presentations, speakers, workshops, participatory design experiences and discussions on how to create better interactive experiences for children.

IDC 2015 will offer a wide-ranging program, supporting and facilitating the exchange of ideas within and between all of these communities. The theme for this year is Empowering Children to Create. The focus will be on technology support for creativity, coding, and maker types of endeavors, with two related themes: Developmentally Appropriate Design and Innovative Interfaces.

Jillian and Louise will be presenting the Next Gen projects with our research partners.

Bill will be moderating an industry panel featuring Lego, Leapfrog, PBS KIDS, Toca Boca, Sesame Workshop, Nickelodeon and Google.

Summer Internship Opportunities

Summer’s just around the corner, and we’re gearing up for an exciting project! We’re looking for a few pairs of helping hands as we develop a new digital brand with fun new characters for a mobile preschool initiative.

Be part of this exciting process as a legal intern! The internship focus primarily on a project called Next Generation Preschool Math, a 4-year research study of the effectiveness of a media-rich math curriculum for preschoolers. In addition to collaborating with the legal department to copyright digital materials, we hope to explore innovative ways to get our brand out into the world. Experience with legal matters and copyrighting is very welcome.

Also for this project, we’re looking for short-term help preparing digital and non-digital materials for the research study. This internship is perfect for a student looking to get some quick hands-on experience in educational media production or education research before the start of the term, with full-time work for three weeks in August or September.
