PBS KIDS Lab Makeover

Sylvia led the PBS KIDS Lab team (Mike, Li, Kevin, Catherine) through a major upgrade which launched this week. New features include:

– A new Videos section on the site housing about 100 clips.

– A Video filter on the Collections pages to filter for videos – and links from videos to games and games to videos to build a connection for how videos and games relate to each other.

– A new layout for the Out of School Activities PBS KIDS Afterschool Adventure resource

– A revamped Teaching Tips for Educational Media (Boston University Modules) section with 8 Modules and links to PDF files and files for deployment on SMART boards.

– A videos section for the Teaching Tips housing 11 videos that show a teacher using the teaching tips

– Direct links to news articles

– Spanish games for Curious George, Cat in the Hat, Sid the Science Kid, new games for Electric Company and a Peg + Cat collection

New PBS KIDS Lab

.Lab

Our revised designs for PBS Kids Lab just launched. This bilingual, mobile-friendly resource for parents, educators and researchers is a one-stop-shop for all things Ready to Learn. This revised version contains new designs, new organization and the latest round of research. We will soon be adding all the new transmedia suites and Spanish games generated by PBS producers from this year of this Department of Education project.

The WGBH team for the Lab is Sylvia, Mike, Dan P, Li, Amy and Bill with support from Melissa, Jesse, and Belinda. The PBS team for the Lab includes Jean, David, Jen, Lori, Sara, and Chris.
